To celebrate International Cable Car Day on January 17th 2017, 5 lucky pairs in Val d’Isere will win an exclusive twilight Solaise cable car cruise with champagne and gourmet canapes served by Le Chardon’s own hosts. The winners will then enjoy a guided torchlit descent back to the village under the stars.

The Solaise cable car is new this year to Val d’Isere and brings a touch of luxury to the typical ski lift experience with heated faux leather seats and portable WiFi in each 10 person gondola, bringing 3,600 people every hour to the summit of the Solaise mountain in just seven minutes – the result of a 19 million Euro investment.

The lift will open exclusively for our five lucky couples to enjoy a once in a lifetime private cruise, and two pairs will hopefully enjoy the extra treat of a glass bottomed view!

International Cable Car Day in 2017 marks 146 years since the first patent in relation to a cable car was received by British born, US resident Andrew Smith Hallidie in 1871. The design was originally conceived for San Francisco when Hallidie witnessed horses falling under the strain of trying to pull cars up San Francisco’s steep Jackson Street. The cable propelled transit has since evolved to gondolas serving most ski resorts around the globe.

Winners of the Cable Car Cruise will be notified on Monday 16th January, 2017 by 20.00.  Competition Terms and Conditions can be viewed by clicking here.
