Kids Ski holidays in Val d'Isere

Val d'Isere has become a popular family ski resort due to its 19 ski schools and multitude of activities to keep children of all ages entertained.

The 19 ski schools in Val d'Isere represent a bewildering choice for parents who want their children to learn to ski safely and have fun at the same time. It is essential that parents feel reassured that their children are happy and well looked after during their time in ski school.

At Le Chardon we recommend Progression Ski School, with their emphasis on fun and safety. We particularly like thoughtful extra touches such as the take-home skiing DVD as well as the first aid kits, sunblock and handwarmers carried by instructors.

Here are some of the better-known ski schools, but it is relatively easy to find out more about these or other ski schools by browsing online.

Progression

All instructors are fully qualified and speak English fluently. They all carry full first aid kit, suncream and handwarmers. There is a maximum of 6 in the beginners' class.

At the end of the week the kids receive a certificate, an Awards Booklet, stickers and a Progression badge to match the level achieved. They also receive a DVD of themselves and their group skiing to take home with them to show off to family and friends.

Evolution

Evolution promise excitement and fun, with an emphasis on continual assessment. The English speaking instructors are in direct radio contact with our offices. There is a maximum of 8 in a class, and the course includes free certificates and medals. At the end of the course the children go on a'Yeti Hunting' ski adventure instead of a 'scary test' in front of other groups.

Oxygene

There is a maximum of 6 in a class and all instructors speak English. There are 2 levels offered for younger age groups:

Snowbear (3 years). By the end of the week children should feel confident moving around, staying upright and changing direction in the snowplough position.

Snowman (4-7 years). For absolute beginners. Start off on flat nursery slopes and progress towards using the drag-lift, then towards using the chairlift by the end of the week. Practise simple turns in the snowplough position and manage to stop, using snowplough.

New Generation

The emphasis is on great fun and learning. At the end of the week, badges and certificates are awarded at the presentation ceremony. In longer lessons parents should provide a few Euros for a drink as the group will have some breaks. Group sizes are limited to 6 in the younger age groups and a helper is also present if more than 3 children in a group to look after the younger children.

Snow Fun

Small group ski lessons of 6 children. Minimum tears, maximum fun guaranteed.

During your ski holiday, you may wish to try out other activities. Our french ski chalets are in an ideal location for non-skiing activities plus a host of shops, bars and restaurants.
