Chalet Staff Vacancies 2008 / 2009 Season

Chalet Manager

This is a challenging and intensive role in which you will demonstrate exceptional management skills, maintain an excellent team spirit and ensure total guest satisfaction. Chalet Managers have total responsibility for the chalet and you will be the one who will oversee, anticipate and plan everything for your guests.

At Le Chardon Mountain Lodges everything must exceed our guests' expectations and you will deal with all aspects of the guest's stay serving meals, managing the rest of your team and overseeing the housekeeping.

Essential Qualities:

  • You speak fluent English & French
  • You have previous experience in the deluxe hotel/gastronomic restaurant industry
  • You are a team player & lead by example with strong management skills
  • You have great guest relations and interpersonal skills
  • You have a strong sense of responsibility, are conscientious and a hard worker, and are dedicated with a great sense of humor!

Main Responsibilities:

SERVICE

  • Welcome the guests, organise their week and maintain good relations with them.
  • Responsible for the smooth running of the chalet.
  • Respond proactively to guest queries.
  • Ensure the quality of the product is maintained.
  • Help in other areas in the case of staff illness.
  • Responsible for guest relations - dealing with complaints and special requests
  • Drive guests within the resort when needed.
CATERING

  • Serve early morning tea and coffee, breakfast, afternoon tea, champagne and canapés, and dinner (lay up for lunch if required)
  • Lay the table as appropriate to our very high standard when the host is off.
HOUSEKEEPING AND  MAINTENANCE

  • Make sure the chalet is always tidy, maintaining its special atmosphere.
  • Re-stack fire wood and re-lay fire.
  • Clear snow from balconies.
  • Help  host to clean the communal areas to our very high standards & bedrooms if required.
  • Do the evening “Turn down” when the host is off.
  • Report any damage to the Head of Operations.
  • Bring out & clear away the external furniture as required.
SUPERVISION AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Train, supervise and manage the team.
  • Delegate but always control, motivate, discipline and encourage the team.
  • Be responsible for the staff rota.
  • Manage staff attitude, issues and focus on the team spirit.
  • Check the uniform and appearance of the chalet team.
  • Regular stock takes.
  • Observe the budget fixed by CML.
  • Liaise with suppliers, checking bookings, deliveries and making last minute arrangements for guests.
  • Report any complaints to the Head of Operations immediately.
  • Prepare and update weekly report to the Head of Operations.

Chalet Hosts

Chalet Hosts work closely with the Chalet Manager in the day to day running of each Chalet. They also help to provide the specialist level of care to our guests at all times which will ensure that their expectations are always exceeded. The host's main responsibilities include room cleanliness, serving the different meals with the manager, the evening "turn down" and all other aspects of housekeeping.

Essential Qualities:

  • You are a fluent English speaker
  • You have previous experience in the deluxe hotel and/or gastronomic restaurant industry
  • You have the highest standards of cleanliness and a good eye for detail
  • You are responsible, conscientious & dedicated
  • You understand the importance of fantastic customer service and enjoy working with children
  • And you are a team player with a great sense of humor!

Main Responsibilities:

  • Replace the Chalet Manager in his/her absence.
  • Respond proactively to guest queries.
  • Be prepared to help in other areas in the case of staff illness.
  • CATERING

  • Mainly in charge for the children’s meals.
  • Lay the table as appropriate to our very high standard.
  • HOUSEKEEPING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Clean the communal areas to our very high standard. Help with bedrooms if required.
  • Be responsible for all laundry, in-house and for sending & receiving all linen.
  • Do the evening “Turn down”.
  • Report any damage to the Manager.
  • Bring out and clear away the external furniture as required.
  • Keep boot room areas clean and out door balconies and corridors.
  • SUPERVISION AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Train and supervise the cleaner and ensure all guests’ requirements are met.
  • Be in charge of the linen store, consumable stock and cleaning products.
  • Report any complaints to the Chalet manager immediately.

    Chalet Chef

    A chef at Le Chardon is no ordinary challenge. You should have extensive experience in the deluxe hotel and/or gastronomic restaurant industry as standard and be willing to go that extra mile to ensure total guest satisfaction. Chefs work closely with the Chalet Manager and should remember that food is very important for guest satisfaction. Chefs also work alone so this role is a hands-on approach to every aspect of cooking.

    You will be expected to create a weekly menu for the guests in accordance with our standard, clean the kitchen and wash up, deal directly with guests and present a menu every night, be part of the team and lend a hand when needed elsewhere.

    Essential Qualities:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high profile establishment and have a knowledge of French cuisine.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Good English and conversational French.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of ordering, menu planning, purchasing, inventories and stock control.
    • Excellent organisation skills bearing in mind you will be working in domestic kitchens.
    • Be creative and flexible, adapting cooking to the guest’s requirements.
    • Be children orientated and interested in preparing fresh food for the children.
    • Be able to present the menu and talk about the cuisine.
    • Be able to work to tight dead lines with last minute requests.
    • Food and hygiene certificate.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Welcome the guests on Sunday and help to carry luggage
    • Responsible for all aspects of the kitchen ensuring the quality preparation of all menu items.
    • Order and check all deliveries.
    • Budgeting, efficient food costing and stock control.
    • Observe weekly budgets.
    • Follow all food and hygiene regulations.
    • Prepare breakfast, children lunch and dinner, tea time, dinner (5 different courses including cheese) and staff food twice a day.
    • Liaise with suppliers, ensuring the collection of invoices and checking invoiced prices.
    • Always wear a clean chef’s uniform.
    • Keep an up-to-date, proper inventory of the kitchen equipment
    • Refer any maintenance problems to the Chalet Manager
    • Clean your kitchen daily and do a huge one every Sunday
    • Help the team on Sunday to clean the chalet after having first ensured that your kitchen is clean
    • Maintain fridge and freezer checks with temperature gauge and recording data

    Chauffeur

    Chauffeurs are the link between the chalet and the resort. Sometimes they become the confidante of the guests, or the kids favourite but they are always the person who will surprise them all by their excellent customer service and good manners.

    You will drive the guests in and around town, help in chalet maintenance, snow clearance, carry the wood, valet the vehicles inside and outside and also be very helpful to guests.

    Qualities Expected:

    • Cautious and experienced driver (full driving license for a minimum of 5 years).
    • Handyman with knowledge in car maintenance
    • English spoken (French will be a huge advantage)
    • Smart appearance
    • Flexible and approachable
    • Focus on customer service and hard worker
    • Be child orientated

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Welcome the guests on Sunday and help to carry luggage
    • Excellent knowledge of the local town and all shops and suppliers
    • Plenty of driving duties during the day and certain evenings
    • Responsible for all chalet vehicles and to keep them clean and tidy on a daily basis
    • Responsible for fuel & phone budgets
    • Report any damage to the vehicles immediately
    • Always keep the car park and terraces clear of snow and ice
    • In charge of the tidiness of the outside area
    • Maintain contact with local people
    • The role is flexible and work will range from cleaning and stacking firewood to the lifting and carrying in of deliveries
    • Prepare vehicles for clients - to include warming them up and loading the skis in to the rack
    • In charge of minor maintenance following the manager’s instructions
    • In charge of outdoor furniture, making sure that it is laid out and clean
    • In charge of building snow bars, making snowmen with kids, and other events
    • Help the team in the chalet if needed (mainly on changeover day)
    • Responsible for the maintenance of the Jacuzzi, doing all tests and logging the results three times a day.

    Head Chauffeur

    Head Chauffeur is an important role - linking the chalet, the resort and the operations teams. Sometimes you become the confidante of the guests, or the kids favourite but they are always the person who will surprise them all by their excellent customer service and good manners.

    • You will manage the 6 chauffeurs; check all vehicles, and be responsible for Jacuzzi & maintenance reports.
    • You will drive the guests in town, help out with snow clearance, carry wood, valet the vehicles inside and out and be a helpful member of staff to our guests
    • You will be responsible for all the vehicule repairs and oversee the mileage on every vehicle
    • You will be responsible for organising all activities in town & collect the guests' ski passes
    • You will manage all the chauffeurs, responding and dealing with all their issues including finding replacements or replacing them yourself, if necessary through illness or injury.

     

    Qualities Expected:
