Catering on your ski holiday – an insight from our chef

My Val d’Isere Season as a Chardon Chalet Chef

Having worked in top restaurants and hotels throughout my career I found myself looking for a new challenge. I’ve never worked a ski season, nor been skiing before, so here was a double challenge set to me to work as a ski chalet chef. Working for Chardon gave me the opportunity to cook what guests requested, the freedom to design my own menus to impress and to cook different dishes from day to day and week to week in a beautiful property. It was very rewarding to have the guests come into the kitchen and appreciate my work.

Chardon offers great support and a very attractive package not just for work but your free time and resort experience too. With complimentary ski/snowboard hire, a smart uniform, comfortable staff accommodation and great association with other companies and locals in resort you can really make the most of your season in one of the top ski resorts in Europe.

After only planning to do the one season, I found it so enjoyable I am already looking forward to my return to Chardon next season with new ideas for exciting alpine dining experiences. It is a truly rewarding career experience which I’d recommend to any
chef looking to be able to give that personal touch.
